Additional Billing Item - User-Package Component

Summary

The component named 'Additional Billing Item' allows a customer account to have a one time or recurring service associated to a package but billing independently of that package in regard to the next bill date and period.

The configuration accepts the selection of a service, the frequency with which you want to bill the additional billing item, and the price which you wish to charge. When the Additional Billing Item is billed, no prorates are calculated. The item will bill from its own next bill date, to the next month or period independent of the package next bill date or even the users bill day.

If the associated package is upgraded, the component/additional billing item will follow the upgrade path to the new package and continue to bill.

The additional billing item will bill when the main package bills (if its next bill date is less than or equal to the package next bill date). If the next bill date of the additional billing item is greater than the package next bill date then it will not be billed until EngageIP billing runs and catches the package next bill date.

Adding the Component to a Package

To add an additional billing item to a package or user package:

1. Load the appropriate account

2. Click on the Package name under the Packages section of the Overview page (or Packages page)

3. Under the Components section click Add

4. Select Additional Billing Item

5. Define the configuration - similar to any service or package configuration for price and frequency:

   • Service: the service the additional billing item is associated with

   • Amount: the amount that will be charged for the Additional Billing Item when it is billed

   • Frequency: this is the billing frequency, used in combination with the BaseTimeUnitType field to determine how often the component should be billed

   • BaseTimeUnitType: this is the period of time which interacts with the frequency to determine the billing period. 2 Weeks, 1 Day, 1 Month, 12 Months, Once (for NRC), etc.

   • Next Bill Date: the date on which the package will bill next

   • Non Refundable: if selected no refund will be issued for the Additional Billing Item Component when the related User-Package is cancelled

6. Click Save and the Package edit page will show the Additional Billing Item Component

Billing the Additional Billing Item Component

You can use Bill Account on the Tools page to bill this out by billing the main package or encompassing the next bill date associated with the Additional Billing Item component.

The image below shows the regular package (Monthly Service) billing based on the users bill day the 1st for the full monthly period. The additional billing item had a next bill date stamped as January 8th, so when bill account was executed for Feb 1st the system billed both the regular service amount for the February period, and also caught up and billed out the 'additional billing item'.
