Summary

This article describes how to configure IIS or EngageIP to extend the length of time for sessions to time out.

Definitions

Session Timeout - length of idle time before the browser requires you to login to the EngageIP interface again

ASP Script Timeout - length of time before a report that may be loading lots of data times out retrieving that data. For large reports, it may take 3, 4 or 5 minutes to fully load data so the ASP script needs to know to wait that long for it to load.

Timeout Locations

Timeouts may be configured in the following locations. If you're having timeout issues, these are the places to look:

  • EngageIP registry - sometimes a key exists with a timeout specified in seconds

  • Adminportal/Web.Config file - the web.config file can be edited in notepad and a timeout line exists in seconds which can be extended

  • IIS: Application pool time out for session can be adjusted
